The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) supports a carefully selected number of programmes for the training of specialists from development and newly industrialised countries.
The scholarships offer foreign graduates from development and newly industrialised countries from all disciplines and with at least two years’ professional experience the chance to take a postgraduate or Master’s degree at a state or state-recognised German university, and in exceptional cases to take a doctoral degree, and to obtain a university qualification (Master’s/PhD) in Germany.

Eligibility Criteria for the Freie University of Berlin DAAD EPOS Scholarship 2026
To qualify, applicants must:
- Be from a developing country listed in the OECD-DAC list (except certain transition countries).
- Hold a bachelor’s (for master’s) or master’s (for PhD) degree, completed within the last six years.
- Have a minimum of two years’ relevant professional experience after graduation.
- Be currently working in a role related to development in a public or private institution.
- Demonstrate development-related motivation and potential as a change-maker.
