Applications are now open for the 2026 Arizona State University (ASU) Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program.

The third phase of the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program at Arizona State University (ASU) marks a significant step in empowering young African leaders with the skills and knowledge needed to drive innovative and sustainable development on the continent.

Description Details of the 2026 Arizona State University (ASU) Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program

It’s more than just a scholarship. The Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program offers comprehensive support to enable young people to attain inclusive and relevant education, transition smoothly into dignified and fulfilling work, and lead transformative lives.

The Mastercard Foundation, in partnership with Arizona State University, is offering 40 opportunities for graduate study through the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program.

The new Mastercard Foundation Scholars will pursue ASU degrees online with in-person support and wrap-around services from Kepler College in Rwanda, blending flexible online learning with personalized guidance and community engagement.

Building on the success of previous phases, this new chapter will engage 600 young adults between 2024-2030.

The Program will support a range of pathways, including in-person and online degrees as well as English language learning delivered in partnership with African institutions, and certificates in fields such as supply chain management and global management.

Through these programs, ASU aims to equip African youth with the critical technological, entrepreneurial, and leadership skills required to thrive in a rapidly evolving global landscape.

Eligibility Criteria for the 2026 Arizona State University (ASU) Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program

To be eligible for the 2026 Arizona State University (ASU) Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program, Applicants;

  • Must meet ASU admissions requirements.
  • Must be an African citizen between the ages of 18 and 33 who is committed to ethical leadership and community engagement.
  • Proven leadership, service, and academic excellence.
  • Undergraduate degree earned by July 2026.
  • No prior graduate degree started or completed.
  • Must reside in Rwanda for the program duration.

2026 Arizona State University (ASU) Mastercard Foundation Scholars Available Scholarships

Scholarships are available for the following full-time, on-campus graduate programs:

  • MS Global Technology and Development
  • MSE Sustainable Engineering
  • MS Information Technology
  • MS Business Analytics
  • MEd Learning Design and Technologies

Benefits of the Scholars Program

Eligible applicants of the 2026 Arizona State University (ASU) Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program would enjoy the following;

  • Full tuition fees.
  • Accommodation 
  • Comprehensive support for the 2-year graduate program.
  •  Individual mentorship, leadership development, and enriching events/programming.
  •  A 2-month internship between the first and second year, aligned with the Mastercard Foundation Scholars’ fields of study.

How to Apply for the 2026 Arizona State University (ASU) Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program

The Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program is implemented through our partner universities and non-governmental organizations.

The application process and decision-making are managed individually by each partner. Interested applicants of the Mastercard Foundation Scholarship are advised to apply directly through the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program-affiliated institution they wish to attend.

Partner institutions have their own application processes, deadlines, and admission fees. Read through the application guidelines or contact the institution of your choice for more information.

For schools that require application fees as part of the admissions process, the fees will be reimbursed if the student is selected for the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program.
