KAS International Talent Development Scholarship Description Details

The Konrad Adenauer Foundation (KAS) is a German political organization that is affiliated with the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) and is structured as an association.

The Konrad Adenauer Foundation is regarded as one of the most important think tanks in the world and a prominent think tank in Germany.

We provide scholarships to overseas students and PhD candidates who intend to start or finish their studies at a German university, with funding provided by the German Federal Foreign Office.

The German Federal Foreign Office funds the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) International Scholarship Program, which invites dedicated, high-potential applicants to start or continue their bachelor’s, master’s, or doctorate studies at a German institution starting in the second semester.

The goal of this program is what sets it apart: KAS supports students and PhD candidates who wish to use their long-term work and leadership to advance democracy, the rule of law, and human rights while combining academic achievement with social involvement.

Financial Benefits of the KAS International Talent Development Scholarship.

KAS International Talent Development Scholarship 2026 in Germany will cover the following expenses:

• For bachelor’s, master’s, and postgraduate studies, applicants can get up to €992 per month, with a typical support period of two years.
• PhD candidates must be completely accepted into a PhD program at a German university in order to receive up to €1,400 per month for a typical financing period of three years.
• A health insurance subsidy of up to €120 per month, a family allowance of €276 (if your spouse stays in Germany for more than three months), and a kid allowance of €250 per child are examples of additional support that may be available upon request (with verification).
• Additionally, scholars can apply for grants for research travel overseas (not including conference visits) and, in special circumstances, a partial reimbursement of their tuition costs up to €750 per semester.
• KAS does not pay for fees associated with enrollment, re-registration, or exmatriculation (such as semester tickets or student union dues).
• On the non-financial front, scholars take part in local university organizations, participate in an interdisciplinary seminar program, and receive academic and personal mentoring.
• The Network of International Scholars (NIS) offers practical assistance to international scholars as well (settling in, administrative procedures, volunteering, and social integration).
• PhD candidates can enroll in KAS research colleges that specialize in topics such as Social Market Economy, 21st-Century Security and Development, and European Democracies: Transformations Since 1990.

To apply for the scholarship, Applicants must submit the following the documents;

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants have to meet the following criteria to apply for KAS International Talent Development Scholarship. They must;

• Demonstrate at least B2 competency in German (e.g., a Goethe-Institut certificate).
• Plan to enroll in a four-semester MA program at a German university if you are applying for a Master’s degree.
• Have finished at least two semesters of a BA program at a German university in order to apply for a bachelor’s degree.
• Have strong academic records, consistent volunteerism and community involvement, alignment with KAS ideals (democracy, rule of law, human rights), initiative to participate in program life, and a long-term objective of deepening relations between Germany and your home country are all qualities that KAS seeks for.

How to Apply for KAS International Talent Development Scholarship?

• Applicant must submit their application through the KAS Campus Portal and upload all necessary documentation if they are applying through the domestic selection process rather than through an overseas KAS office.
• Make sure your submission is complete by using the official KAS application notes, guidelines, and checklist.
• Interviews for regional selection are scheduled for May 2026 and will be conducted in collaboration with KAS Buenos Aires (Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Uruguay, and Paraguay) and KAS Nairobi (Kenya, Uganda/South Sudan, Tanzania, and Ethiopia).
