Ph.D. Candidate in Vibrational Dynamics in Metal Cluster Complexes
Description:
This project is part of the MAX PLANCK – RADBOUD University Centre for Infrared Free Electron Laser Spectroscopy. The candidate will be using existing and incoming experimental equipment to characterize metal cluster complexes, combining mass spectrometry and laser spectroscopy, utilizing, in particular the Infrared Free Electron Lasers (IR-FELs) that are available at HFML-FELIX and the Fritz-Haber-Institute (FHI) in Berlin, Germany.
The candidate will also closely work with partners from joint experimental studies at both institutes in addition to a teaching load of 10%.
Eligibility
- MSc in Physics or Physical Chemistry
- Experience with any of the following techniques is desirable, but not essential: pulsed laser systems, time-resolved spectroscopy, mass spectrometry or high vacuum instrumentation, programming for data analysis (Python, Igor Pro, Matlab, Origin), or instrument automation and data acquisition.
- You are enthusiastic about experimental research.
- You are keen and able to work in a multidisciplinary environment.
- Excellent communication skills in spoken and written English are essential.
- You must be in the first four years (full-time equivalent) of your research career and have not yet been awarded a doctoral degree.

As a candidate, you will become part of a team that performs state-of-the-art single-cell genomics and epigenomics experiments to study the self-organization and differentiation potential of cardiac cell types in bioengineered human heart tissue. You will also collaborate with team members who specialize in stem cell differentiation (Twente), bioengineering (Twente), and computational biology (Nijmegen, Twente) as part of an NWO-XL project called HeartEngine. As part of the Veenstra lab in the Department of Molecular Developmental Biology, you will enter our four-year Ph.D. program at Radboud University.
Eligibility

- You are a team science-minded professional with an MSc degree in Biology, Molecular Life Sciences or equivalent, and a specialization in molecular biology, developmental biology, cell biology, or molecular life sciences.
