The 2024 German Government DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) Scholarships presents unique opportunities for international graduates from developing and newly industrialised nations. Candidates with a minimum of two years of work experience can pursue a postgraduate or Master’s degree at a state or state-recognized German university. In exceptional circumstances, they can pursue a doctorate and earn a master’s or doctoral degree in Germany.

DAAD Scholarships Eligibility
To be considered eligible for the German Government DAAD Scholarship, candidates need to:
- Operate in a developing nation for a public authority, a state, or a private corporation; as such, they plan and carry out projects and directives with a focus on development policies that affect the social, economic, and technological domains.
- Have a Bachelor’s degree in a comparable field, often earned in four years.
- Possess, at the time of application, a minimum of two years of relevant work experience following the completion of a bachelor’s degree, an academic degree with significantly above average results (upper third).
- Candidates should demonstrate that their motivation is development-related. Following their training or scholarship, they should be prepared to assume social responsibility, start change processes in their personal and professional environments, and support them.
- Academic degrees that are typically not older than six years.
- At the time of application, residents of Germany for more than 15 months are not eligible to apply.
DAAD Scholarships Benefits
- A stipend of £1,200 monthly for doctoral candidates and £934 monthly payments for graduates based on academic standing.
- Travel allowance, unless these costs are reimbursed by the home nation or another source of funding.
- Payments towards health, accident, and personal liability insurance cover.
Scholarship recipients may be eligible to earn the following extra advantages in specific situations:
- Rent subsidy each month.
- A monthly stipend for family members that accompany.
How to Apply
Candidates will apply to the DAAD scholarships by submitting the following:
- Checklist completed and signed
- “Application for a research or study scholarship” DAAD application (Please make sure your responses are simple to read or type).
- A reverse chronological curriculum vitae with no gaps in explanation (please use the Europass template), accurately reflecting your education and work experience
- A single letter of motivation that includes a thorough explanation of the applicant’s personal, professional, and academic background for the programme
- A guarantee of employment from your current employer upon returning home, if possible, and a certificate(s) of employment from the employer(s) indicating at least two years of relevant work experience following the bachelor’s degree up to the time of application. If at all feasible, the employment certificate issued by the present employer needs to provide an assurance of future employment upon repatriating to the nation of origin.
The latest evidence of language proficiency: IELTS or TOEFL in English (keep in mind that the institutional TOEFL is not approved)German is necessary for classes taught in that language.
- Copies of your diplomas from your postsecondary studies.
- A complete set of your transcript of records in copy form.
- A copy of the APS Certificate must be sent with the application materials for candidates from the People’s Republic of China.
