The call for the 2024 European Union CSAS Scholarship (Intra-Africa Mobility Scheme) has been made for all interested and qualified students to pursue graduate programs.
Scholarship Description
The Intra-Africa Academic Mobility Scheme of the European Union has provided funding to support training of graduate students in Central and East African universities.
In this mobility programme five African Partner Institutions and one EU Technical Partner will collaborate in the training of professionals in developing climate smart agrifood systems.
The European Union CSAS Scholarship shall equip students and staff with a comprehensive understanding of climate-smart agrifood systems, incorporating disciplines such as agriculture, environmental science, climate science and socio-economic aspects of food systems.
A total of 26 Masters, 8 PhDs, will be trained in the thematic areas of Climate Smart Agriculture, Agriculture and Rural Innovations, Dryland Agriculture, Livestock Production Systems, Plant Breeding and Seed Systems, Food Security, Geomatics and Artificial Intelligence.
The project will provide scholarship for full degree programs (PhD and MSc) as well as short term mobility for students and staff that will run from 2024 to 2028.
The mobility project is expected to contribute to;
- Promoting inclusive academic mobility and partnerships between Higher Education Institutions / Universities (HEI) and Research Institutions to address key challenges in developing climate-smart agrifood systems.
- Developing or strengthening curriculum on Climate-Smart Agrifood Systems in HEIs.
- Strengthening climate data and information systems using digital tools.
Eligibility Requirements for CSAS Intra-Africa Mobility Scheme 2024
To be considered for the European Union CSAS Scholarship, you must:
- Be an African applicant.
- Must be living in Africa as at the time of your application.
- Applicants are only allowed to apply to study in an institution outside of their home country.
Benefits of European Union CSAS Scholarship 2024
Successful applicants of the European Union CSAS Scholarship 2024 would enjoy the following benefits:
- A subsistence allowance of 1230 € per month for PhD candidates, 890 € for MSc candidates’ 1230 € for Trainees and 2370 € for Staff.
- Traveling cost, insurance subsistence and accommodation.
- Insurance: Insurance coverage (accident, travel, health) will be provided for the duration of the scholarship within the limits of the grant provisions.
