Scholarship Description:
Scholarship is available with Dr. Amal Bakchan seeking to hire 10 PhD students to start in Spring 2024/Fall 2024 for research projects primarily focusing on water and wastewater infrastructures.
These projects aim to advance environmental justice and equity in the provision of these systems, applying both quantitative and qualitative analysis methods and involving collaborations across multiple institutions.
Candidates will join the Department of Construction Science at Texas A&M University on a funded through graduate assistantships scholarship. This may involve research and teaching responsibilities.
The scholarship provides a stipend, tuition coverage, conference support, and benefits. The primary goal of these projects is to advance environmental justice and equity in the provision of water and wastewater infrastructure systems.
The research will apply both quantitative and qualitative analysis methods and will involve collaborations with multiple institutions.
PHD Scholarship Study Area
- Socio-technical infrastructure systems management in extreme contexts, including extreme events and development crises.
- Regionalization of management of decentralized systems in rural, underserved communities.
- Workforce development.
- Utility management and governance.
PHD Funding Eligibility
To be eligible for these scholarship positions, applicants should have the following qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field.
- Demonstrated expertise and interests in how people interface with infrastructure and technology.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Meeting admission requirements.
