Description Details of the Program
The Humphrey Fellowship Program, a Fulbright Exchange, builds connections between U.S. and international professionals to advance solutions to the most pressing global challenges, from developing technology policy, to protecting human rights, and strengthening global health security.
Program History
The Humphrey Fellowship is a ten-month program that combines academic coursework, professional experiences, and networking opportunities. Unlike a traditional degree program, the fellowship focuses on practical skills and leadership development rather than obtaining a formal degree. Fellows are placed at selected U.S. universities that offer tailored study and training in their respective fields.
The program was established in 1978 to honor Hubert H. Humphrey, the 38th Vice President of the United States and a strong advocate for global cooperation and human rights. Since its inception, over 6,000 fellows from more than 160 countries have participated in the program, strengthening ties between the U.S. and the global community.
