Riddet Institute Fully-funded Scholarship 2025
The Riddet Institute at Massey University in Palmerston North, New Zealand, is inviting applications for a prestigious fully funded 3.5-year PhD scholarship in Consumer & Sensory Science starting in 2025. Open to domestic and international applicants (subject to visa requirements), this opportunity focuses on the consumer characterisation of future foods through the innovative Check-All-That-Apply (CATA) approach.
The successful applicant will join the Food Experience and Sensory Testing (Feast) Lab under the supervision of Professors Joanne Hort and Sara Jaeger. The PhD research will delve into consumer engagement with future foods, examining their sensory and emotional responses while exploring data collection methodologies. Utilizing eye-tracking technology, the project aims to study how consumers interact with CATA questionnaires, with attention to situational appropriateness, culture, and familiarity with products.

Eligibility Criteria for The Riddet Institute at Massey University
To be eligible for the Riddet Institute, Applicants must;
- Possess at least an Honours degree with First or Second Class Honours (Division 1) in Food Science, Psychology, or a related discipline.
- Have strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills are required.
- A relevant Master’s degree and experience working with human subjects, statistical analysis, and data analysis are advantageous.
- Have experience with eye tracking and immersive technologies is preferred but not mandatory.
