The Helmut Schmidt Scholarship 2027 provides an excellent opportunity to study in Germany through a tuition-free master’s degree at top German universities.
It is open to international graduates with strong academic backgrounds in fields such as public policy, political science, social sciences, law, economics, development studies, and public administration. All selected programs are taught entirely in English, so applicants do not need German language skills at the time of application.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA OF DAAD Helmut Schmidt Germany Scholarship
Applicants must hold a first university degree (or equivalent) obtained within the last six years. The program is open to graduates from developing or emerging countries in disciplines such as social sciences, political science, law, economics, and public administration. Applications can be submitted in either English or German. Candidates must also meet the specific requirements of their chosen master’s programs.
FINANCIAL COVERAGE DAAD Helmut Schmidt Germany Scholarship
Selected scholars will receive :
- A monthly stipend of €992
- Health insurance in Germany
- Travel allowances between Germany and their home country
- Study and research grants
- Rent subsidies and possible family allowances
A mandatory German language course of up to four months before the program begins
For the “Social Protection” master’s program, funding differs slightly : students receive €500 per month during the fourth semester, which is completed online in their home country or another eligible country.

Complete the DAAD application form (Annex 2), indicating two preferred programs.
Write one motivation letter explaining your choice of both courses.
Submit the application form, motivation letter, and required documents directly to the selected universities (not to DAAD).
